The Whitaker International Undergraduate Scholarships Programme to Study Abroad, 2014

Institute of International Education is providing an undergraduate scholarship program in USA. Applicant must be currently enrolled as a second, third or senior year undergraduate Biomedical or Bioengineering student from a U.S. institution at the time of the scholarship, with at least one semester remaining at their home institution upon completion of the award. Scholarships are provided in Biomedical or Bioengineering field. 30 scholarships are offered for the academic year. Application should be submitted till October 15, 2013.

Course Level: The scholarships are available for pursuing undergraduate degree level (Applicant must be currently enrolled as a second, third or senior year undergraduate Biomedical or Bioengineering student from a U.S. institution).

Eligibility: If you meet the following requirements, one or more of the Whitaker International Programs may be right for you.
You must:
-Have U.S. citizenship OR be a permanent legal resident of the U.S.
-Be in the field of biomedical engineering/bioengineering or a closely-related field (Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with substantive interest and background in Biomedicine).
-Be no more than 3 years from the receipt of your most recent degree, or be currently enrolled.
-Have language ability to carry out the proposed project in the host country at the time of departure.

Scholarship Open for International Students: The students of USA can apply for the scholarships.

Scholarship Description: The Whitaker International Program sends emerging leaders in U.S. biomedical engineering (or Institute of International EducationBioengineering) overseas to undertake a self-designed project that will enhance their careers within the field. The goal of the program is to assist the development of professional leaders who are not only superb scientists, but who also will advance the profession through an international outlook. Along with supporting grant projects in an academic setting, the Whitaker International Program encourages grantees to engage in policy work and propose projects in an industry setting.

Number of award(s): 30 Scholarships are offered.

Duration of award(s): Scholarships are offered for the academic year.

What does it cover? Grants are for a one academic term or an academic year.  No summer grants are available. Benefits include:
-Up to a $7,500 scholarship for one semester/academic term
-Up to a $10,000 scholarship for the academic year

Selection Criteria: Not Known

Notification: Within 6 weeks of the application deadline for each term (Fall/Academic Year and Spring).

How to Apply: The mode of applying is electronically. The below forms are required components of a complete application, and must be submitted online.
-Essay on why you wish to participate in your chosen study abroad program (two pages)
-One Reference
-Cost of Study Abroad Program – completed by Study Abroad Advisor
-Amount of Financial Aid received towards program – completed by Study Abroad Adviser
-Study Abroad Advisor approval of the Study Abroad Program
-One set of Official Transcripts
-A letter of acceptance from the approved Study Abroad Program must be submitted in hard copy to IIE at the below address, if awarded the scholarship.
